Linocut Poster

A printmaker is cutting this photograph as a reduction linocut. The original crop is the poster. The man remains that man — same cap or hair, same clothes, same stance — reduced to carved ridges and a handful of flat inks rolled by a brayer, not redrawn as a generic worker. Two or three colours only, slightly misregistered. The linoleum grain shows in the solids. Cheap cream poster paper, a torn deckle on one edge, a faint brayer track in the margin. Hang it on a studio wall and photograph the print, not the block. Not an aquatint, not a postage stamp, not a vector logo, not a screenprint of an unaltered photo.
