A weaving workshop has been asked to put this photograph on the wall as a hanging. Wool weft on a linen warp. The two people occupy the same places in the frame and still look like themselves, even though the drawing is a little naive: hands slightly large, architecture flattened, a horizon that does not quite obey perspective.
Colours are dyed yarns. Use a limited medieval range that still approximates the original clothes and sky rather than inventing a heraldic palette. Stitches show. The hanging has a slight warp, a few pulled threads, and a darker band of age along the top where it was once nailed to a batten.
Photograph the textile on a stone wall with raking daylight so the ribs of the weave catch.
Not a pixel grid, not counted cross-stitch on hooped canvas, and not an oil painting in a gilt frame.
