A batik workshop is using this photograph as the drawing for a hanging. Wax is painted over the cloth to hold the original crop: same place for the sitter, same background masses. Dye then fills the open cloth — deep indigo, rust, a little cream where wax stayed.
The woman is recognisable: hair, clothes, pose translated into wax-and-dye shapes, not into a decorative motif of a different person. Crackle runs through large dye fields. The cloth hangs with a slight ripple; you can see the hem.
Not a tropical tourist pattern unrelated to the photo, not a silk-screen of a snapshot, not a filter that draws cracks on a portrait.
