What each model is good at, where it differs from the others, and what it costs to run.
The high-fidelity member of the family. Use it when a Visxy prompt has to survive a close look — type, hands, labels — not when you are still shopping looks.

Pro is the model you reach for after you already like the picture and need it to survive being stared at. Google's name is Gemini 3 Pro Image. It is not "Banana 2, but nicer." It is a different Gemini line, sold for professional assets and dense instructions — type inside the frame, layouts that have to stay consistent, a product that has to look like itself.
Most Visxy image library portraits do not need this. They need Nano Banana 2. If you are still choosing a look, they need Nano Banana 2 Lite. Opening Pro first is how you spend the heavy model on a crop you will throw away.
Close inspection. The failure modes a cheaper Banana gets approximately right are the reason this page exists: lettering in the scene, hands, reflections, a pattern that has to repeat across the frame, a pack shot whose label must remain itself. Google's own examples for Pro are magazine pages, product ads, mixed-media scenes, infographics with real headings — not "handsome man, studio, cinematic."
Write the text. If the picture contains a word, a headline, a date, or a brand line, put that string in the prompt exactly. "Some elegant lettering" is how you get almost-words.
It is also the safer editor when the change is delicate: swap the language on a label, keep a logo on a bottle, correct one object without rebuilding the set. That is still this model with a reference attached, not a different public page.
What it is not: a draft button, a panoramic banner machine, or a replacement for Banana 2 on everyday 9:16 library stills. If the result only has to work as a phone thumbnail, you opened the wrong Banana.
Nano Banana 2 is Flash; Pro is Pro. Google's split is instruction-following versus maximum accuracy and studio control. Start on 2; escalate when the prompt is dense or the type has to be right.
Nano Banana 2 Lite is the wrong comparison for quality. Lite is a different, smaller model with no size picker. You do not "upgrade Lite to Pro" for a sharper 9:16 face. You draft on Lite, commit on Banana 2, and open Pro when the brief contains type, a label, or a layout you will look at closely.
Pro cannot make the ultra-wide frames Lite and Banana 2 can. There is no 4:1 or 8:1 here. If the brief is a panoramic strip, this page cannot honour it. Generate that shape on Banana 2.
Do not compose on this model. Draft the crop and the light on Lite or Banana 2. When you like the still, paste the same prompt here. Rewriting it "to be more Pro" usually loses the thing you already approved.
Specificity is the input. Name the actual words always. Name which objects must remain from a reference. If the library prompt already does that, leave it.
9:16 still matches the Visxy library. 16:9 and 21:9 match editorial and infographic briefs. Do not pick Pro because you wanted a banner Pro cannot make.
Fact-check anything that looks like a chart, a map, or a "current" magazine page. Visxy does not send a web-search knob, so Pro here is reasoning over the prompt, not over live search. Invented statistics in a pretty layout are still invented.
We have not published a Visxy timing for Pro. Treat it as the inspect-me pass in the family, and do not generate a dozen variations "just to see."
No public Nano Banana Pro Edit article. Attach a reference to this model. "Change the headline to VISXY, keep the bottle" is an edit. "A luxury perfume ad" is a new picture and will wander.
Use Pro's editor when the change is the reason you opened Pro: lettering, a logo that must stay planted, a localization of signage. Use Banana 2's editor for ordinary wardrobe and sky swaps. Use Lite only for disposable local tweaks.
Missing pixels are not recovered. If the source is small, a large Pro edit is a large invention.
When the frame has to survive a close look: readable type, a pack label, a dense layout, a product that must remain itself. Everyday Visxy 9:16 portraits should stay on Banana 2.
Yes, and you should. Lock the crop on a cheaper Banana, then re-run the same prompt on Pro. Changing the text because you changed model is how you lose the approved still.
No. Those exist on Lite and Banana 2, not here. A panoramic brief on this page cannot be honoured by picking a different crop.
